April 13, 2013: Circle Time!

Mother Nature really would be a much nicer lady if she would stop her constant mood swings which make her give us icy wind and rain in what is SUPPOSED to be spring. Three days of mid-80s was too much effort for her, I guess, so back to the sleeves and long pants for a while. Today's ensemble is good for fending off chills while still having some fun with textures and patterns!

My new white top has so many fun elements-ruffles! crochet!-and I chose it specifically to match up with colorful bottoms as a neutral counterpart. Add in some yellow to keep sunshine on the brain, and you've got a toasty warm yet April-appropriate upper torso!

Not quite red and not quite pink, these fuchsia...magenta...WHATEVERCOLOR jeans are bright yet more subtle to balance out the yellow on top. This isn't a color couple I would have thought could get along, but they're happily married with two kids and a Dalmatian puppy!

I'm not giving up on the warm days that easily! Circles and dots add more pizzazz and fun shapes to the look, and the colors include the same pink and yellow as the cardigan and jeans. Unfortunately, I won't be able to remember where I got most of my flip-flops throughout spring and summer, since I've owned them for years, so the usual outfit pieces list will often be lacking elements.

For accessories, I went with the earrings birthday gifted to me by my darling friend, which fit in with the sandals' circular theme. For those of you not in the Doctor Who loop, this is the catch phrase of the first season of the show's revival, spread out across space and time like timey-wimey breadcrumbs for a spectacular finale payoff. Yes, the geek references will be flowing thick and fast on this here blog; you were warned.

I threw on my spiral bangles too, to mirror the wiggly edges of the bottle caps!
