April 10, 2013: Black and White Elegance!

I know this is more suited for a trip to a fancy Italian restaurant than lugging books around to class, but hey, nothing wrong with looking extra-nice some days! Black and white is huge this spring, so this outfit is right on the money for day or night.

This top is a prime example of how to look like a million bucks when you ain't got none. It makes you feel like a Grecian goddess! In most cases I prefer cream fabric over stark white since it tends to chameleon in with my pastiness (me and tan-ness don't jive), but this one was just too pretty to pass up.

Also, my quest for the ideal black flared miniskirt ended on Amazon a short while ago. This one just makes you want to twirl until you topple over!

Pardon the slightly unflattering face, sun is not my friend when photographing

This outfit doesn't even require any real extra jewelry, since it comes with its own built-in utility belt...necklace! All I have on today are some plain silver hoops which the light is obscuring here. I like how instead of just being randomly sewn into the shoulders like most attached-necklace shirts, the strands hook into the nifty rings that hold the draping sleeves up. The chunky links get balanced with the thin ones for some nice contrast.

Ah, one of my several pairs of birthday shoes! These are from the Prabal Gurung for Target line; I have no idea what a Prabal Gurung is, but judging from what I've seen, the fellow (or lady) does design a lovely graphic floral dress. I'm a sucker for lace-up shoes, and the side mesh panels and greyscale rose pattern make these edgy, dainty and trendy all at once. I really didn't know what colors would look best with them, so I chose the simple black and white up top as well to make them pop more!
